Weather Word Search

The weather list covers every kind of day, from BALMY and SUNNY to a BLIZZARD or a HURRICANE, along with what we use to measure it, like a THERMOMETER, a BAROMETER and a WEATHERVANE, and what we reach for when it turns, an UMBRELLA or a RAINCOAT.

Weather words love a Z. BLIZZARD and DRIZZLE have two each, BREEZE and FREEZE and HAZE one. The grid's filler letters follow how often letters turn up in English, and Z is one of the rarest, so a Z on the board is a strong sign that one of these words runs through it.

Many weather words come in pairs, a noun and the adjective made from it: CLOUD and CLOUDY, STORM and STORMY, FROST and FROSTY, WIND and WINDY. The shorter one sits inside the longer, so only one of each pair can be hidden in a grid, and you never have to wonder which of the two you've found.

The seasons are here too, so a grid may hold SPRING, SUMMER, AUTUMN and WINTER all at once. On Medium, the diagonals give longer words, like HUMIDITY and FORECAST, room to stretch out.
