Vegetables Word Search

Everything in these grids came from the vegetable patch or the herb pot: roots like PARSNIP and TURNIP, leaves like KALE and CHARD, and kitchen herbs such as THYME, SAGE and CORIANDER that sit next to them in any greengrocer.

Some vegetables go by two names depending on where you live, and both are in the list. A board can hide COURGETTE and ZUCCHINI, or AUBERGINE and EGGPLANT, side by side, so reading the whole list before you start saves a surprise later.

Watch for words tucked inside others. PEA sits inside CHICKPEA, and CORN inside SWEETCORN, so the generator never deals such a pair on the same board: a short word hiding in a longer one would be found twice. What you will see is plenty of shared letters where words cross, especially the E, A and R that vegetable names lean on.

Long names like CAULIFLOWER and HORSERADISH are Hard-only, and Easy keeps to words of eight letters or fewer. On Medium, try scanning the diagonals for the double letters in BROCCOLI, CABBAGE and ZUCCHINI, which stand out more than you'd expect.
