Animals Word Search

Every grid on this page is filled from a list of about eighty animals, from the ones on a farm to the ones you'd only meet on a safari. A cheetah might share a row with a hamster, and an armadillo can cross a koala where their letters agree.

Animal names are a good mix for this kind of puzzle. Short ones like YAK, ELK and FOX hide easily among the filler letters, so they are often the last ones left on the list. Long ones like CHIMPANZEE and ORANGUTAN only turn up on Medium and Hard, where the grid is wide enough for them, and they are the easiest to spot.

Look out for the letter pairs animal names love: the double O in KANGAROO and RACCOON, the double F in GIRAFFE, the double L in GORILLA. A rare letter like the X in LYNX or the Q in SQUIRREL is worth hunting first, because the filler letters almost never use them.

Words are chosen at random for each game, so you won't see the same set twice in a row. Try Hard when you want the animals running backwards and upwards as well.
