How to Play
A word is hidden behind a row of blank slots, and its theme is shown above the cookie: an animal, a fruit, a country, a musical instrument and so on. Guess the word one letter at a time, either by tapping the keyboard under the slots or by typing on your own keyboard.
A letter that's in the word drops into every slot where it belongs and its key turns green. A letter that isn't costs you a bite of the cookie and its key is crossed off. Fill every slot before the cookie is gone to win the round.
This page mixes words from all twelve themes. Choose a theme above the game for a round of just animals, sports words, ocean life or kitchen things.
Rules
- Easy gives you 8 wrong guesses, Medium 6 and Hard 5. Pick the level in the menu above the cookie; each level keeps its own record.
- Each letter can be guessed once. Guessing a right letter never costs anything, however many times it appears.
- The last bite finishes the cookie and ends the round, and the whole word is shown.
- The word stays hidden until you press Start, and the clock runs from then until your last guess.
- The Daily Challenge is one word for everyone on Medium, with one try a day. It's ranked by wrong guesses, fewest first, with time as the tie-breaker. New Games are unranked.
Tips & Strategy
Open with vowels
E, A and O appear in most English words. Two or three vowels usually show you the shape of the word for very little risk.
Then the common consonants
R, S, T, N and L fill a lot of slots. Save rare letters like Q, X and Z for when the pattern points at them.
Let the theme do the work
A seven-letter country ending in A narrows things fast. Think of words in the theme that fit the gaps before you guess.

It's a friendlier way to count your misses. Each wrong guess is one bite, and your lives left are shown above the game.
Can I play with my keyboard?
Yes. On a computer, just type letters; the on-screen keys show which ones you've already tried.
How is the Daily Challenge checked?
Our server picks the day's word again, replays your guesses in order and counts the misses itself before your result reaches the leaderboard.
