How to Play
Every grid hides a list of words, shown beside or under it. Find each one in the letters and mark it: slide your finger or the mouse from its first letter to its last, or tap the first letter and then the last. The selection snaps to a straight line, so a rough swipe along a word still lands on it. A found word gets a colored capsule on the grid and is crossed off the list.
The letters stay hidden until you press Start, and the clock runs from then until the last word. This page mixes words from all twelve themes; pick a theme above for a grid of animals, fruits, countries and more.
Rules
- Easy is a 10x10 grid with 8 words that read left to right or top to bottom. Medium is 12x12 with 12 words and adds diagonals. Hard is 15x15 with 16 words in all eight directions, backwards included; on a narrow phone it is 13 across and 17 down instead, with the same number of words.
- Each word appears exactly once. Words may cross and share a letter, but never run along the same line as each other.
- You can select a word from either end. A selection that isn't a word on the list just fades away and costs nothing.
- A hint rings the first letter of the next unfound word on the list. In the Daily Challenge each hint adds 15 seconds.
- The Daily Challenge is one Medium grid of mixed words, the same for everyone, one try a day, ranked by time. New Games are unranked.
Tips & Strategy
Hunt the rare letters
Filler letters follow how often letters appear in English, so a Q, Z, X or J is usually part of a real word. Start there and look around it.
Scan one direction at a time
Read every row, then every column, then the diagonals. On Hard, run each pass once more backwards.
Short words last
Three-letter words blend into the filler. Clear the long ones first; fewer letters are left to confuse you.
Use the crossings
A letter already inside a capsule may belong to a second word. Check the lines through it before moving on.
FAQ
Do I have to drag?
No. Tap a word's first letter, then its last. Tapping the same letter again cancels.
Why is Hard a different shape on my phone?
Fifteen columns would make the letters too small to read, so narrow screens get 13 by 17, nearly the same number of cells.
What does my New Game record keep?
Games played and won, your best time, and your streak, separately for each level and theme, on this device.
