Weather Hangman

Every word here could appear in a forecast: RAIN, SLEET and SNOW, a HURRICANE or a MONSOON, a RAINBOW after the SHOWER, and the tools that measure it all, like the THERMOMETER.

Weather words share building blocks. SNOW starts SNOWFLAKE; RAIN starts RAINBOW; SUN starts SUNNY and SUNSHINE. Compound words like HEATWAVE and WEATHERVANE split into two halves you can guess one at a time.

Some short words are sneaky: DRY and FOG have only one vowel or none that helps, so the consonants carry them. A Y is worth a try on a short word with no vowel showing yet: it fills DRY, and the last slot of SUNNY or WINDY.

Measuring words are the longest here: TEMPERATURE, THERMOMETER and FAHRENHEIT all have ten letters or more. Their T, E and R carry most of the slots, so those three letters are good early guesses whenever the word looks long.
