This theme is all about work: people who help, like the DOCTOR and the FIREFIGHTER, people who make things, like the BAKER and the DESIGNER, and people who tell stories, like the JOURNALIST and the POET.

Job titles often end the same way, and that makes them easier to crack. ER closes BAKER, FARMER and GARDENER; IST closes FLORIST and GEOLOGIST; OR closes ACTOR, DOCTOR and EDITOR. Once the last two or three letters are known, the rest of the word often follows.

The longest entries, PHOTOGRAPHER and RECEPTIONIST, have twelve letters, which means lots of slots but also lots of clues. Short ones like VET and CHEF go fast but give you fewer letters to reason from.

Some job titles are spelled differently from how they sound: the PH in PHOTOGRAPHER sounds like an F, and the CH in CHEF like SH. If a guess you were sure of misses, say the job out loud and think about the other ways its sounds could be written.
