How to Play

The board is a grid of Mahjong tiles: 48 on Easy, 72 on Medium and 80 on Hard. Tap a tile, then a tile with the same face. If a line can join the two through empty space with no more than two turns, a line flashes between them and both are gone.

The line may run along the empty lane round the outside of the board, so tiles on the edges are often the easiest to link. If a pair matches but no line fits, both tiles shake and the second one stays picked.

Rules

  • Only identical tiles match: the same number of the same suit, the same wind or the same dragon.
  • A line is up to three straight pieces, so at most two turns, and never crosses a tile.
  • A match is worth 10 points times your combo. Each match within four seconds of the last one raises the combo by one, up to x5.
  • A hint shows a pair you can take, costs 20 points and ends the combo.
  • When no pair can be linked you can shuffle: the tiles left are rearranged on the same spots, almost always so that all of them can be cleared. You get three shuffles a game. With none left and no pair to link, the game ends.
  • Clearing the board adds 200 points, plus 5 for every second under the level's par time: 2:30, 4:30 or 6:00.

Tips & Strategy

Start at the edges

Edge tiles can always reach the outside lane, so pairs there link easily. Taking them first opens room for the middle.

Keep the combo alive

Before your next tap, spot the pair after it. Two quick matches score 30 points, five in a row 150.

Mind the last two of a kind

On Hard some faces appear only twice, so each has exactly one partner. When one of them is boxed in, clear the tiles around it instead of waiting for a lucky line.

FAQ

Can every board be cleared?

Yes. Each board is dealt by taking linkable pairs off a full grid until it's empty, so some order of matches always works. A careless order can still box tiles in, which is what the shuffles are for.

How do the levels differ?

Easy has 12 different faces, four of each. Medium has 18. Hard has 28, and some of them only twice, so pairs are harder to spot.

How does the Daily Challenge work?

Everyone gets the same Medium board for the day and one try. Your points rank you, and our server replays your moves to check the score.
