How to Play

Thirty-five cards lie face up in seven columns of five. One more card starts the open pile below, and the remaining sixteen wait face down in the stock. Your goal is to move every column card onto the open pile.

Tap a column to play its bottom card, the one fully showing, when it is one rank above or below the open card. Suit and color don't matter, so a 7 can follow a 6 or an 8 of any suit. That card becomes the new open card, and the run can keep going: 8, 9, 10, 9, 8. When nothing fits, tap the stock to turn its next card onto the pile and start a new run from there.

Rules

  • Only the exposed card of each column can be played, onto the open card, one rank up or down.
  • Ace and King are not neighbours: after a King only a Queen can follow, after an Ace only a 2.
  • The stock goes through once. There is no redeal.
  • The game ends when all 35 column cards are cleared, or when the stock is empty and no exposed card fits.
  • You score a point for every column card cleared, and when you clear all 35, a point for every card still in the stock: 51 at most. Undo is free and as often as you like, so only the moves you keep count.

Tips & Strategy

Look for the longest run

Before you play, follow each choice a few cards ahead. Playing a 5 that frees a 4 and then a 3 beats a lone 7.

Keep the stock in reserve

Sixteen draws have to last the whole game, and every one left over when you clear the columns is a point. Never draw while a column card still fits.

Dig out the deep columns

A column with all five cards left needs the most runs to clear. When two plays are equal, take the one from the taller column.

FAQ

Can every game be won?

No. A bit under half of random deals can be cleared, even with perfect play, so New Game is a real challenge. The Daily Challenge is always one our solver has cleared.

How does the hint work?

It searches ahead from where you are. When it finds a way to clear every column, it shows that line's next move. When it can prove there is none, it says so, and undo lets you try another way.

How is the Daily Challenge ranked?

By score: cards cleared, plus the stock you have left if you clear them all, so a clear with fewer draws ranks higher. Ties go to the faster run. Everyone gets the same deal, only your first finished game of the day counts, and our server replays your moves to check it.
