How to Play
Sit down with a friend and share one device. One of you plays Dark, the other Light, and Dark moves first. After each move, hand the phone or tablet over, or just take turns at the same laptop. The Turn box above the board always says whose move it is.
The board stays the same way up the whole game, with Dark's pieces starting at the bottom. The player on move taps a piece and then its destination, or drags it. When a capture is available the pieces that can take are ringed, so nobody misses a forced jump.
Undo takes back the last move, which is handy for friendly games and for showing someone what they missed. There is no computer on this page and no time limit, so take as long as you like.
Rules
- Each side has twelve pieces on the dark squares of the three rows nearest to it.
- Men go one square diagonally forward; kings go one square diagonally in any direction.
- Jumping over an adjacent enemy piece to the empty square beyond captures it. Whenever a jump exists for the player on move, one must be made, and the jumping piece keeps going while it can.
- Only kings may capture backward. A man becomes a king on the far row, and its move ends on arrival.
- A player who can't move, or has no pieces, loses.
- Forty moves each without any capture or man move, or the same position three times, makes the game a draw.

Agree on the house rules
This board uses standard American rules: forced captures, one-square kings. Settle any local variations before the first move.
Swap colors
Dark moves first, which is a small edge. Alternate who plays Dark from game to game.
Use Undo to teach

Can we play on two different devices?
Not yet. This page is for two people on the same screen. To play alone, pick Easy, Medium or Hard.
What does the record count?
Games played, Dark's wins, Light's wins and draws on this device, kept separately from your games against the computer.
Does a two-player game go on a leaderboard?
No. The only ranked checkers is Hard, against the computer.
